Swati Negi has a background in sustainable forest management, Environmental and Forest governance. In her PhD from ETH Zürich, her research focused on community-based forest governance in Nepal, looking deeply into the role of Social Capital, community attributes, leadership and consensus decision-making processes for achieving efficient and successful community forest management.
She is always intrigued by the factors that make or break the policy interventions at the ground level and has research interests related to mixed-methods approach in understanding the  resource-user behaviors, decision-making processes, preferences and acceptance of the policies at the societal level.

At Felis, her research interests have expanded to the governance of circular economy, energy politics and sustainable mobility. The core interests still remain in the domain of what drives the successful policy interventions and how the preferences, knowledge, networks and needs of energy users/consumers affect the overall social acceptance of the innovative interventions.
